Laser Scanning Services For Honoring the Parkland 17 Memorial

Buildings are obviously majestic, but they are barely a collection of brick and mortar. It’s the design that makes them lively. And sometimes, the design cause is much bigger than the project size you are addressing. There are instances when the design idea itself goes much bigger than all the big structures in your skyline, and below is one such project that we (Tejjy Inc.) have done. 

Introduction

The Parkland 17 Memorial Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, has planned on a public memorial to honor the 17 lives that were taken too soon in the Parkland high school shooting. 

Location and Concept 

The memorial will be located in a quiet, serene 150-acre preserve that borders Coral Springs and Parkland to unite the two affected communities. 

Competition and Finalists 

The foundation invited proposals from designers across the globe and selected six finalists. 

Winning Design: The design by “Aiqiu” emerged as the runner-up entry, capturing the essence of commemorating the lost 17 souls with 17 pillars in a round formation. 

Design Elements: The urban sculpture features 17 pillars representing 17 Rays of Light, symbolizing the victory of love and the distinct personalities of the individuals lost. 

Symbolism: Seventeen birds imprinted on the pillars rise above and come together in a circle above a healing fountain, symbolizing the unity of the Parkland and Coral Springs communities in memory of the 17 souls. 

Healing Gardens: Seventeen distinct gardens serve as healing ripples that illuminate pathways to healing, emanating from the 17 light beams. 

Contributions from Tejjy 

Tejjy’s laser scanning and point cloud modeling services played a crucial role in popularizing Aiqiu’s sculpture model across multiple channels. We laser-scanned the scaled sculpture model for an effective concept depiction in digitized format.

Later, the model was refined on Autodesk Recap for better visualization. So that there would be no friction in propagating Aiqiu’s vision and commitment for the cause. And our laser scanning deliverance is a tribute in its own right to commemorate those beautiful souls who have gone so early.
